FAQ

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

Here at Bamboo Studio we are using the strength, beauty, renewability, and versatility of bamboo to offer an ever widening array of products. Whether you are looking for a disposable plate, bowl or utensil for your next party or if you want a reusable bamboo plate that can replace or compliment your existing dinnerware, we have what you want.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOUR PRODUCT LINES?

Disposable Bamboo Sheath Products:
Our disposable Bamboo Sheath products are made from the sheath of the bamboo plant. The sheath is a protective covering found on newly emerging bamboo plants. As the plant matures, the sheath falls to the ground and most often is unutilized. Our process collects these sheaths and then they are cleaned, boiled, laminated to the desired thickness, and pressed into shape. The result is disposable dinnerware that is elegant, strong and 100% biodegradable. Sheath products can be reused several times with the following proper care instructions. Hand wash with soap in hot water and immediately hand dry with a soft towel. Do not submerge in water or place in a dishwasher.

Reusable BambooWare Products:
Our reusable BambooWare product line is a revolutionary dishware that is eco-friendly, biodegradable, beautiful and durable. The process begins by taking the fiber of bamboo plants five years or older and grinding it into a fine powder. Utilizing a patented process, we mold this material into beautiful, durable, eco-friendly plates, bowls and trays that are all 100% biodegradable. Each piece of our Bamboo Ware line is FDA approved food safe and can withstand even the toughest industrial dishwashers. For the first time, BambooWare combines the eco-conscious decision to purchase dinnerware made from Earth-friendly bamboo plants with the natural desire to own dinnerware that is stylish, colorful and durable.

Our Other Reusable Products:
We also offer reusable products that are made from the bamboo plant itself. Our very popular reusable knife, spoon and fork are beautiful, strong, elegant, long lasting and biodegradable. To care for these reusable items hand wash with hot water and soap, and dry with a soft towel. Do not leave submerged in water or place in a dishwasher as the life of the item will be reduced.

WHY BAMBOO?

A study by Canadian scientist Martin Hocking shows that making a paper plate uses as much petroleum or natural gas as a polystyrene plate. Plus, the paper product uses wood pulp. The Canadian study said, ‘The paper product consumes 12 times as much steam, 36 times as much electricity, and twice as much cooling water as the plastic equivalent.

But that doesn't mean expanded polystyrene (styrofoam) is good. All plastics take a long time to biodegrade - some estimate as much as several centuries. Fortunately there is a great alternative to the age old question of "Paper or Plastic." Bamboo Studio!
